Tangier – Tetouan – Chefchaouen
Arrival at the port or airport of Tangier, meeting and departure with the driver/guide in the direction of Chefchaouen crossing the Rif mountains and the city of Tetouan. Arrival in Chefchaouen for a short visit. Chefchaouen is called the “Blue Pearl” because all buildings, doors, windows, fountains and streets are painted in different shades of blue. The city was considered sacred for centuries and it was even forbidden to enter foreigners. Only recently, in the ’50s, things have changed and the city has become a tourist destination that few people know. The medina is a maze of narrow streets and coloured blue and the reason is purely religious and not aesthetic. Inhabited by Berber peoples, it was founded by Spaniards who came from Andalusia, which is why the ancient part of the city resembles the Andalusian villages with narrow streets and walls full of flowers. Most of its inhabitants still speak Spanish today. In the centre of the old city you will see the Outa-el-Hammam Square where the Tarik-Ben-Ziad Mosque is located, which hides an octagonal-inspired minaret inspired by the Torre de Oro in Seville and a splendid fortress. The new city is built further down. Free dinner. Overnight in riad/hotel.
Chefchaouen - Volubilis - Meknes - Fes
After breakfast in the riad our Morocco trip starts towards Volubilis crossing via ouazan and other Rif villages, in Volubilis, we will discover the Roman ruins and learn about the archeological site of Moroccan history, after the visit of the ruins we will shift our way to Meknes city the 17th-century heritage where we will stop for lunch and hang around the historical huge walls of the medina, bab el Mansour and enjoy a visit of Moulay Ismail s shrine. After the visit of Meknes, we will drive directly to Fes city where you will spend the night in a local riad.
Fes - Azrou - Midelt - Ziz Valley - Merzouga
After breakfast in your riad, you’ll start travelling southeast to Merzouga via Midelt and Errachidia. Your first stop will be at Ifran, referred to as “the Switzerland of Morocco”, and then to Merzouga via Midlet and the Ziz Valley. During this journey you’ll experience glimpses of the Middle Atlas and Higher Atlas mountains. Stopping at the famous cedar forest – the largest in Morocco – where you may well sight Barbarian apes. You’ll notice how the scenery changes to reveal hints of the desert as you approach the city Er Rachidia. After lunch in Midelt, your journey continues along the luxuriant Ziz Valley, stopping for panoramic views along the way. We will drive through welcoming Berber villages to Erfoud, and then Rissani, the foundation of the Alaouite dynasty – the current ruling royal family in Morocco. Arriving in Merzouga Desert you have a go ahead to Ride Camels and you will stop for on the way to watch the beautiful sunset on top of the dunes then you continue your trip on Camels to a Traditional Berber Camp Dinner /overnight .
Merzouga - Ziz Valley - Fez
We will wake up early to attend the beautiful sunrise. And after breakfast, we will take our vehicles and head to Fez. We will pass through Rissani, Erfoud, the Ziz palm groves, Errachidia, the Ziz Gorges, the Tizi n Talghamt port Arriving late afternoon in Fes.Overnight in Riad
Visit Fez Medina - Chefchaouen
After breakfast we will start the tour of the old city of Fez (Fes el-Bali) and its medina, the largest and most famous of all the Arab world, entering from the Bab Boujloud, the most famous port and heading towards Dar Batha, a Hispanic-Moorish building which houses a beautiful Museum of popular art, continuing with a visit to the madrasa Bou Inania, Koranic school of Fes in Morocco, where young people studying the Koran between rooms, oratory and a beautiful patio. The visit continues then through the tannery Chouara, you will discover affascinabte leather processing, by first cleaning up the coat colouring with natural tints. We then Qaraouiyine mosque, founded in the 9th century by a woman, The sightseeing stops along the square, where ottonai and Seffarine tinkers live in adjacent streets and square. Will emerge from the medina through the Bab Semmarine, After exploring Fez, we will departure to Chaouen overnight .
Chefchaouen - Tangier
After breakfast in Chefchaouen , we start the way back to the city of Tangier where the Trip will end.
