15 Days Morocco History & Culture Tours

Day 1: Casablanca -Rabat

We will pick you up at the airport and after a Berber breakfast accompanied by a tea with mint, we will take a tour around CASABLANCA visiting the most emblematic places of the city.
The mosque of Hassan II is undoubtedly the most important point of the city. The mosque has the highest minaret in the world (more than 200 meters) and is the third largest on the planet.
In Morocco it is the only mosque that non-Muslims can visit.
Its symmetrical adornments combine tradition and modernity of Moroccan art.
It is a really spectacular building.
We will walk along the Boulevard de la Corniche, the Park of Nations, the Place de Mohamed V ….
This is where we will take lunch.
We will start RABAT, capital of Morocco.
In the afternoon, we will take a panoramic tour of the exteriors of the Royal Palace and its gardens, the Hassan Tower and the Mausoleum of Mohamed V.
At night, rest at your hotel.

Day 2: Rabat- Meknes-Volubilis-Fez

After breakfast, we will transfer to the city of MEKNES.
We will visit MEKNES. Very calm city, very beautiful and divided in the ville nouvelle built by the French and the old part where is the medina and the imperial ville of Mulay Ismai
MEKNES, was the capital of Morocco during the 55 years that Sultan Mulay Ismail commanded.
We will visit the medina, the Bab Mansour Gate, the Jedim Square, the Great Mosque, the Bou Inania Madrasa and the Mulay Ismail Mausoleum, of course we will take a tour of the souks.
After lunch, we will go to VOLUP. It is the most important archaeological site in the country. Nowadays, VOLUCABILIS allows as few places in the world to imagine in detail the life of the Romans.
In the evening we will arrive at FEZ. Accommodation in the hotel of your choice.

Day 3: Fez

After breakfast, we will visit FEZ.
FEZ, a city full of mystery and magnificence, is the most complete medieval medina in the Arab world, treasures world-famous monuments, thousands of winding streets and hundreds of palaces and mansions. UNESCO declared FEZ, World Heritage Site.
We will visit, among other places, the Attarine madrasa, the Karaouine Mosque, the tanners, the Meridines tombs, and the souks.
We will spend all day in FEZ and also the night. You’ll see it’s worth it.

Day 4: Fez- Ifran-Azrou-Midelt

We will cross the Middle Atlas with its mountains and plateaus covered with cedars.
On the way we will pass by IFRANE, it is the rarest “oasis” of Morocco: suddenly, and without warning appears in the middle of the country a place where it is cold, with a perfectly straight line, very clean, with houses with orange roofs Alpine style. There is no hustle in the street, no souks. It’s going to look like we’re not in Morocco.
The village is full of parks and lakes. They call it “the Moroccan Switzerland”
We will find in one of its parks the famous sculpture in the shape of a lion’s head that is the symbol of the locality.
It will be in this special place, where we will have lunch.
To 17 km to the south, we will find the city of AZROU, a Berber city that is located in the crossing between the routes of Meknes, Fez, Jenifra and Midelt. Due to its location, one of the most important markets of the Middle Atlas is celebrated.
At 13km you will find the amazing monkey forest, where you can observe closely and feed these sociable animals.
We will follow route through MIDELT, place where we will spend the night.
Before arriving at this town, we will cross a volcanic plain covered with pumice stone.

Day 5: Midelt-Errachidia-Merzouga

After breakfast, we will continue the route towards MERZOUGA.
We will stop in the village of ERRACHIDIA to visit it and have lunch.
Following the road, we will arrive at VALLE DEL ZIZ. Here is the largest oasis not only of Morocco, but of all Africa: the TAFILALT
We will stop in the village of ERFOUD, famous for the museum of fossils and minerals.
Following the route, we will find the village of RISSANI.
 In the Middle Ages was the capital of the region of Tafilalt was the mythical city of Sijilmansa (near its ruins today rises the city of Rissani).
It was one of the first cities of Morocco. The city was the starting point of the present dynasty that reigns today in Morocco.
We will visit the fortress of Zawiya Moulay Ali ash-Sharif; fortress from where the Alawites departed. Today it is the mausoleum of Moulay Ali ash-Sharif.
RISSANI is today a beautiful and quiet town of adobe.
The market is held on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, in the can see a large animal fair, especially donkeys.
At the end of the valley we will find the MERZOUGA dune sea.
After a welcome tea, we will accommodate you at the hotel.
Before sleeping, you can enjoy the sunset on the dunes.

Day 6: Merzouga

After a delicious Berber breakfast, we will cross a dirt track that will take us to the place where the nomads of the desert live. We’ll have tea with them and explain a little about the way they live …
After a beautiful morning with the nomads of the desert, we will visit the village of KHAMLIA to listen to African music.
A delicious lunch awaits us today.
In the afternoon we will change the car for camels to go to ERG CHEBBI.
We will contemplate the sunset in the dunes. We will be walking in the ERG CHEBBI, a superb cordon of golden dunes that penetrate in the immensity of the Sahara.
We will spend the night in a Berber tent “haima”, we will dine around the fire with music of drums and contemplating the starry sky.

Day 7: Merzouga-Gorges of Todra-Dades Gorges

Even if you have to get up early, you can not miss the sunrise in the dunes.
 We will leave with camels to the hotel, we will have breakfast and a good shower.
Following the route, we will reach the village of TINERGHIR, where we will stop for lunch.
In the afternoon, we will reach the GARGANTAS DEL TODRA. About 15 km from Tinerghir, the relief forms a kind of funnel in which between two very high walls of red stone, the river flows meekly.
We will take a tour of this wonderful place.
 Following the route you will see a lot of adobe kasbas that combine with the landscape of palm trees and reddish mountains.
We will go parallel to the river Dades, we will see some very curious rocks called “monkey fingers”. Here we will stop so they can walk, take photos, rest from the car ….
We will find ourselves in the GARGANTAS DEL DADES.
 We will be seeing an arid landscape of limestone and volcanic rocks that from time to time becomes a paradise of palm trees and vegetation when you reach an oasis.
And it will be here, in this wonderful place, where we will spend the night.

Day 8: Valley of roses-Ouarzazate

Following the route, we will arrive at KELAAT M’GOUNA, the place is known as the VALLE DE LAS ROSAS.
In this area, roses grow everywhere.
The town has a distillery where rose water is made, we can visit it and if you want you can buy in addition to rose water, all kinds of products derived from roses.
We will stop at the oasis of SKOURA and enjoy lunch in a restaurant overlooking the valley.
Finally, we will arrive at OUARZAZATE, where we will stay.
 We will visit the “Aït Ben Haddou Kasbah”, a spectacular fortification protected by UNESCO and located in one of the most beautiful and best preserved adobe villages in Morocco.
There have been filmed several famous films like: LAWRENCE OF ARABIA, JESUS ​​OF NAZARET, GLADIATOR, THE PRINCE OF PERSIA …

Day 9: Ouarzazate- Tarouddant

Today we will go to AGADIR; but in the middle of OUARZAZATE and AGADIR we find the TAROUDDANT medina.
TAROUDDANT is surrounded by impressive red adobe walls. The city was important in the sixteenth century when the Saadians made it the capital.
We will be in a city with a fully Moroccan structure, with beautiful walls and a beautiful medina, whose souk is filled with color thanks to the species, amulets and craftsman objects that are sold in it.
Here we will spend all day and night.
If your trip coincides with the saffron harvest, you will have the opportunity to meet the Berber families who work in the fields.

DAY 10: Tarouddant-Essauira

After breakfast we will go to AGADIR.
AGADIR is a maritime city, with a beautiful beach. This is where we will have lunch.
Following the road to ESSAOUIRA, we will find a landscape full of argan plantations, herds of goats that some of them climb through the trees to find food.
At night, we will arrive at ESSAOUIRA, and we will stay in a riad in the medina.

Day 11: Essaouira

The waves crash against the walls of the harbor castle, while the gulls flutter around the old walls.
ESSAUIRA is the most romantic coastal city in Morocco.
We will visit the fishing port where the fish is auctioned every day.
We will also visit the old port of Mogador or “port of Tombuctu” as it was known in the nineteenth century for its character as a commercial point between black Africa, South America and Europe. As well as the beautiful square Moulay Hassan, the souk … and many more.
We will take lunch in the port where there are food stalls that open the appetite to anyone.
At dusk, you can see the sunset in the Atlantic Ocean.

Day 12: Essaouira-Marrakech

After breakfast, contemplating the sea, we will continue the route towards MARRAKECH.
 It is in MARRAKECH that Africans and Arabs have crossed with greater fortune. MARRAKECH is manorial, bustling and with a couple of places to retreat, perhaps has the best hotels in Africa.
You can find historical vestiges, stroll through the best souks in the country.
The most identifiable monument of MARRAKECH is the Koutoubia minaret, a beautiful tower that, because of its proportions and decoration, is one of the most perfect that can be seen in the Arab world.
The mosque, is one of the largest in the western Muslim.
The step is forbidden to non-Muslims.
The tower was erected in times of Yacoub Al Mansour (between 1184 and 1199).
It measures 70 meters and the highest part is finished by three balls, the greater of two meters of diameter. The ones we contemplate today are of bronze; but it is believed that at the time of its construction were of gold.
You will be able to visit Ibn Youssef Madrasa (a Qur’anic school founded in the middle of the 14th century), Ibn Yousef Mosque, El Badi Palace, Saadis Tombs, Bahia Palace, Tanners’ Quarter and Majorelle Garden.
At lunch you can savor a typical Moroccan meal.
– In the afternoon, I advise you to walk around the medina and admire and buy in the souks.
They will undoubtedly spend a lot of time in the famous Jemaa el Fna square, an enormous area full of activity, spectacles, snake charmers, ointment sellers, henna tattoo artists … You must discover it yourself ….
In the evening, enjoy dinner and nightlife in MARRAKECH.

Day 14: Marrakech-Imlil

After breakfast, we will go to IMLIL.
South of MARRAKECH, crossing some impressive gorges, we find a small Berber village IMLIL.
We will be under the highest mountain in North Africa, Jebel Toubkal (4167 m.)
You can rent a mule and the services of a guide to visit the Toubkal National Park.
At night, we will return to MARRAKECH.

Day 15: Marrakech-airport

Breakfast at the hotel.
We will accompany you to the airport at the scheduled departure time of your flight.
