11 Days Morocco Desert Tour From Tanger

Day 1 Tanger-Rabat

We will pick you up at the airport or at the port and then the introductions and a welcome tea.
We will start RABAT, capital of Morocco. This is where we will take lunch.
In the afternoon, we will take a panoramic tour of the exteriors of the Royal Palace and its gardens, the Hassan Tower and the Mausoleum of Mohamed V.
We will spend the night in a riad / hotel.

Day 2 Casablanca- El Jadida

After breakfast, we will follow the route to CASABLANCA.
 We will visit the most emblematic places of the city of CASABLANCA.
The mosque of Hassan II is undoubtedly the most important point of the city. The mosque has the highest minaret in the world (more than 200 meters) and is the third largest on the planet.
In Morocco it is the only mosque that non-Muslims can visit.
Its symmetrical adornments combine tradition and modernity of Moroccan art.
It is a really spectacular building.
We will walk along the Boulevard de la Corniche, the Park of Nations, the Place de Mohamed V ….
After lunch, we will leave for EL JADIDA.
EL JADIDA is one of the most beautiful cities on the Atlantic coast of Morocco.
It has a very well preserved Portuguese citadel, inside which is the symbol of the city (the Cisterna in which Orson Welles recorded some scenes of Othello 1952).
You will find in this city a relaxed and beach atmosphere.
Here we will spend the night in a hotel.

Day 3 Safi- Essaouira

We will follow the route to ESSAOUIRA, but by the way, we will stop at SAFI.
SAFI is the capital of Moroccan ceramics. Here we will stop so that if they want, they can buy ceramic products. In this place, we will have lunch.
We will arrive to ESSAOUIRA in the afternoon.
The waves crash against the walls of the harbor castle, while the gulls flutter around the old walls.
ESSAUIRA is the most romantic coastal city in Morocco.
We will visit the fishing port where the fish is auctioned every day.
We will also visit the old port of Mogador or “port of Tombuctu” as it was known in the nineteenth century for its character as a commercial point between black Africa, South America and Europe. As well as the beautiful square Moulay Hassan, the souk … and many more.
We will take lunch in the port where there are food stalls that open the appetite to anyone.
At dusk, you can see the sunset in the Atlantic Ocean.
Overnight at ESSAOURA.

Day 4 Marrakech

We will leave in the morning to MARRAKECH.
We will arrive at lunch time; but first, we will settle in the riad.
 It is in MARRAKECH that Africans and Arabs have crossed with greater fortune. MARRAKECH is manorial, bustling and with a couple of places to retreat, perhaps has the best hotels in Africa.
You can find historical vestiges, stroll through the best souks in the country.
The most identifiable monument of MARRAKECH is the Koutoubia minaret, a beautiful tower that, because of its proportions and decoration, is one of the most perfect that can be seen in the Arab world.
The mosque, is one of the largest in the western Muslim.
The step is forbidden to non-Muslims.
The tower was erected in times of Yacoub Al Mansour (between 1184 and 1199).
It measures 70 meters and the highest part is finished by three balls, the greater of two meters of diameter. The ones we contemplate today are of bronze; but it is believed that at the time of its construction were of gold.
You will be able to visit Ibn Youssef Madrasa (it is a Qur’anic school founded in the middle of the XIV century), Ibn Yousef Mosque, El Badi Palace, Saadis Tombs, Bahia Palace, Tanners Quarter, Majorell Garden
– In the afternoon and evening, I advise you to walk through the medina and admire and buy in the souks.
They will undoubtedly spend a lot of time in the famous Jemaa el Fna square, an enormous area full of activity, spectacles, snake charmers, ointment sellers, henna tattoo artists … You must discover it yourself ….
In the evening, enjoy dinner and nightlife in MARRAKECH.

Day 5 Marrakech

Guided tour of the city of MARRAKECH.
Free day to discover its streets and the souks.
At night, show show and dinner.

Day 6 Marrakech-Ouarzazate

We leave Marrakech at 8:00 am.
We will cross the mountains of the Atlas arriving at the mountain port of Tizi n’Tichka (2200m of altitude).
We will continue towards Ouarzazate where we will have lunch.
In the afternoon we will visit the Kasba Aït Ben Haddou, a spectacular fortification protected by UNESCO and located in one of the most beautiful and best preserved adobe villages in the whole of Morocco.
There have been filmed several famous films as: LAWRENCE OF ARABIA, JESUS ​​OF NAZARETH, THE PRINCE OF PÉRSIA, GLADIATOR, THE MOMMY ….
Overnight at OUARZAZATE.

Day 7 Ouarzazate- Valle Del Dra

We will make an exit of a whole day to cross the VALLEY OF THE DRA, at night we will return to OUARZAZATE.
It is in AGDZ where the oasis sprinkled Kasbas begin, we will stop and we will be able to do some hiking in the area. You can see the first kasbas, which are on either side of the river
After enjoying the Berber lunch, we will return to OUARZAZATE.
Along the way you can see one of the most fascinating landscapes of Morocco, we will see large palm groves, vast unpopulated extensions and wonderful adobe kasbas.

Day 8º Ouarrzazate- Skoura-Valley of the Dades

We will leave early in the morning to SKOURA
The oasis of SKOURA is located 40 km from OUARZAZATE, is 12km long, and in its center is the small village that bears the same name.
We will pass by the LAS ROSAS VALLEY arriving at the Aït Youl kasba where we will have lunch.
We will go parallel to the river Dades, we will see some very curious rocks called “monkey fingers”. Where we will stop so that they can walk, take photos, rest from the car …
We are in the valley of the Dades, flanked in the north by the High Atlas And to the South by the mountains of the Jebel Sagro. It is a really beautiful route, in which the river appears and disappears inside an arid landscape of limestone and volcanic rocks that from time to time it becomes a paradise of palm trees when you reach the oasis.
Here we will spend the night.
 Magic is the night under the starry sky and staring at the moon among the palm trees.

Day 9 Todra Gorges-Merzouga

After having breakfast….
We will follow the route and along the way you will see a lot of adobe kasbas that combine with the landscape of palm trees and red mountains.
We will arrive to Tinerghir and to 15 km we find the Gorges of the Todra; the relief forms a kind of funnel in which between two very high walls of red stone, the river flows meekly. In the morning we will do a walking tour of the valley through the Todra Valley.
To recover strength, we will have lunch …
We will continue towards ERFOUD. This town is famous for the museum of fossils and minerals.
We will stop for you to visit.
At the end of the valley of the Ziz we will find the sea of ​​dunes of MERZOUGA.
We will take you to the hotel where you can settle, have dinner; but first, we will go out to the dunes to watch the sunset.

Day 10: Merzouga-Erg Chebbi

After a delicious Berber breakfast, we will cross a dirt track that will take us to the place where the nomads of the desert live. We’ll have tea with them and explain a little about the way they live …
After a beautiful morning with the nomads of the desert, we will visit the village of KHAMLIA to listen to African music.
A delicious lunch awaits us today.
In the afternoon we will change the car for camels to go to ERG CHEBBI.
We will contemplate the sunset in the dunes. We will be walking in the ERG CHEBBI, a superb cordon of golden dunes that penetrate in the immensity of the Sahara.
We will spend the night in a Berber tent “haima”, we will dine around the fire with music of drums and contemplating the starry sky.

Day 11: Merzouga- Tanger

We will get up early to watch the sunrise in the dunes.
Upon arrival at the hotel we will have breakfast and a good shower.
Following the route, we will find the village of RISSANI.
 In the Middle Ages was the capital of the region of Tafilalt was the mythical city of Sijilmansa (near its ruins today rises the city of Rissani).
It was one of the first cities of Morocco. The city was the starting point of the present dynasty that reigns today in Morocco.
We will visit the fortress of Zawiya Moulay Ali ash-Sharif; fortress from where the Alawites departed. Today it is the mausoleum of Moulay Ali ash-Sharif.
RISSANI is today a beautiful and quiet town of adobe.
The market is held on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, in the can see a large animal fair, especially donkeys.
We will follow route through MIDELT, place where we will stop for lunch
Along the way we will find the Berber city of AZROU, which is located at the junction between the routes of Meknes, Fez, Jenifra and Midelt. Due to its location, one of the most important markets of the Middle Atlas is celebrated.
Very close to AZROU, we will find the amazing forest of monkeys, where you can observe closely and feed these sociable animals.
We are crossing the Middle Atlas with its mountains and plateaus covered with cedars.
 We will stop in the village of IFRANE, it is the rarest “oasis” of Morocco: suddenly, and without warning appears in the middle of the country a place where it is cold, perfectly rectilinear, very clean, with houses with orange roofs the alpine style. There is no hustle in the street, no souks. It’s going to look like we’re not in Morocco.
The village is full of parks and lakes. They call it “the Moroccan Switzerland”
We will find in one of its parks the famous sculpture in the shape of a lion’s head that is the symbol of the locality.
At night we will arrive at TANGER, dinner and accommodation at the hotel

The following morning, after breakfast, we will accompany you to the airport or port.
